Paul Rutten

Paul Rutten (1958) works as researcher and consultant for the TNO Strategy, Technology and Policy (TNO STB) in Delft, the Netherlands. TNO is a research organisation and a knowledge institute with around 5,000 employees working in fourteen different centres. Apart from this, he is visiting professor in ‘Cultural Industries’ at the Faculty of History and Arts at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (NL), since 1998 and reader in Media and Entertainment Management at INHOLLAND University for Professional Education, Haarlem.

He has specialised in fields ranging from ‘Media and Entertainment Industry in the Digital Era’ to ‘Mass Communication and Cultural Identity’. He works in the field of Media, Broadcasting and Entertainment Industry, specialising in the consequences of the so-called digital revolution for these sectors. Government institutions, public organisations and branche organisations mainly commissioned projects done by Rutten. Recently he published on the economic importance of the creative industries in Amsterdam (2004) en Rotterdam (2—5) and on de role of ‘Design in the creative economy’ (2005)

Paul Rutten is a board member of the Dutch National Institute for Pop music (Nationaal Pop Instituut: www.popinstituut.nl) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dutch Institute for Image and Sound (Nederlands Institutuut voor Beeld en Geluid: www.nibg.nl).
